Chicken Parm Meatballs

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan
  • ½ cup traditional breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
  • ¼-½ tsp red pepper flakes, if desired for spice
  • Oil, to pan fry
  • 1, 24 oz jar Jersey Italian Gravy Tomato Basil
  • 1-2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the ground chicken, parmesan, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes until just combined.
  2. Roll the meat mixture into golfball size shaped balls and set aside. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium high heat and add 2-4 tbsp of oil. Once heated and working in batches, add the meatballs. Pan fry until browned on each side, about 3 minutes per side.
  4. Place the meatballs in a medium baking dish and pour the tomato basil sauce over the meatballs. Place the shredded mozzarella on top. Transfer to the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, until the meatballs are cooked through to 165 degrees Fahrenheit. Broil on high for 2-3 minutes if desired for further browning on the cheese.
